Programs in Preschool and School Education

Our Programs offer (a) the Unit of Curriculum and Instruction Studies, (b) the Unit of Elementary School, (c) the Unit of Education for International Understanding, (d) the Unit of Preschool Education, and (e) the Unit of Education for Handicapped Children.

(a) The Unit of Curriculum and Instruction Studies
The Unit is designed to offer subcourses in Japanese Language and Literature, Social Studies, Mathematics, Science, Music, Art, Health and Physical Education, Technology, Home Economics and English as a Foreign Language.

(b) The Unit of Elementary School
The Unit is designed for training teachers who can exercise sympathy for children, leadership, communications skills and coordinate skill to show leadership synthetically and creatively. Varied programs are held to learn skills and knowledge needed to be elementary school teacher.

(c) The Unit of Education for International Understanding
The Unit is designed to raise the consciousness of the students about basic human rights, multiculturalism, international cooperation as well as providing them with skills and knowledge needed to become school teachers.

(d) The Unit of Preschool Education
The Unit is designed for training teachers at preschool level.

(e) The Unit of Education for Handicapped Children
The Unit is designed for training teachers who can teach according to the degree of mental or physical handicap.

Programs in Practical School Psychology

The Programs were established in 1998 and they offer the Unit of Human Learning Process and Education and the Unit of the Educational Psychology. The students on the former unit learn about many aspects of education such as the aims, content, methods, system of teaching, etc. They are also encouraged to develop specific expertise which will be needed for the creation or realization of continuing education. The students on the latter unit widely study many areas of psychology and acquire knowledge of psychology that will help them in their daily lives.

Programs in Information and Science Education

The Programs were established in 1998 and they offer the Unit of Multimedia Arts and Information Processing and the Unit of Mathematics and Information Sciences. The students on the former unit study music and fine arts. They also study information science and theories of information processing. The students on the latter unit study basic of advanced information processing in the field of mathematics, information science, education, etc.

Programs in Health Science Education

The Programs were established in 1998 and they offer the Unit of Sports and Health Science and the Unit of Life and Health Science. The former unit is designed to train students who can observe various human activities from a weder point of view and who can cope with tasks such as promoting health in life, making use of physiology or the biochemistry of exercise. The students on the latter unit study the relationship between health and our lives based on scientific research results. The students primarily study nutrition and health, in addition to the relationship between clothing and health, and the relationship between housing and health.

Programs in Culture and Education

The Programs were reorganized into two units in 1998: the Unit of Cross-Cultural Studies and the Unit of Literature and Performing Arts. The students on the former unit study foreign languages, basic of environmental structure, comparative study of world civilization, etc. The students on the latter unit study subjects of various academic disciplines such as linguistics, literature, artistic expression, and philosophy.
